The January transfer market is always a time of feverish speculation and possible major transfers. A number of notable stars are being connected to moves out of their current clubs. We examine a selection of the top figures that might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, which has kept the forward available, indications are a significant transfer is close. B. Johnson

This Wales winger has found starting opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun only a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the North London club would be open to a sale for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker could be set for a return to the Premier League after a period in Saudi Arabia. Now just twenty-eight, and with his contract expiring in the summer, he is a possible opportunity. Teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there are suggestions from Spain that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona following the coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter departure seems highly likely. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This proven English centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling chances of making the national squad. However, securing a transfer poses significant challenges. His current club do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

K. Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkish attacker is in fine form for Juventus this term. As his existing deal running down, many English sides – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. Juventus are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
