Seamer Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Concerns.

'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and would spend time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the series beginning on 4 January gets underway this coming Sunday.

England have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was brought back for the Boxing Day Test after being left out the Adelaide game.
