It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
