The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at multiple agonizing backstories for characters such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro appears amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of that title, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great nostalgic option, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will love its inclusion.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have a few surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
