Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the nation into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been underway for approximately several years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in North America. Production is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents use skills or traits to assemble a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, participants choose a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants special effects, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Combat Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Battles stress positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At zero health, an operative collapses, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still move and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. Further information and the full range of offerings will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
